Current state, when you ask for it

A record can carry evidence its operator has published. Each kind of evidence counts as current for a defined window. When someone opens the record, evidence older than its window is treated as not present, and the record shows that plainly.

How it works

Evaluated at the moment of reading, not on a schedule

There is no timer. Nothing runs between one read and the next, and the absence of a schedule is the design rather than a limitation of it.

Supplied, never fetched

Every signal is supplied by the operator. ECZ-ID does not connect to your devices, does not reach your network, and performs no outbound check of any kind against anything you operate.

A window, not a countdown

Each kind of evidence is current for a defined window. Past it, the evidence reads as not present — expiry and absence are indistinguishable on purpose, because a stale signal and a missing one deserve to be relied on identically.

Binary, per signal

Each signal is PASS or FAIL. There is no score, no rating and no percentage, because a number invites comparison between two records whose operators published entirely different things.

It informs; it never decides

A finding never changes an identity, its lifecycle state or its assurance. Your policy decides what to do with what it says.

What it is not

Each of these is a prohibition on this page rather than a matter of taste, and each is true of the implementation rather than of the marketing.

It is not device monitoring. Nothing watches anything. There is no schedule, no polling interval and no countdown to a following evaluation.
It is not a network probe. No outbound check against a device exists anywhere in the estate for this family.
It is not a scoring or rating system. There are no percentages, no grades and no composite indices of any kind.
It is not a security product. An ECZ-ID does not make a device safe, secure or correct, and it is not a test, an approval or a certificate.
It is not proof. A badge is a pointer; the Resolver is the only authority on a record's current public state. Re-check before reliance.

No public ECZ-ID found is not a finding. It means the identifier resolves to no published record — nothing more.
